THE MAFU CAGE
Theatre Poster for the movie “The Mafu Cage” (Toi et Tes Nuages) written by Eric Westphal.
The Project
Graphic Design, Print
I was commissioned to design a poster for Eric Westphal’s 1978 film The Mafu Cage, a project that I found both creatively fulfilling and intellectually stimulating.
The film, with its deep psychological themes, presented a fascinating challenge in terms of visual interpretation. My goal was to encapsulate the dark, mysterious tone of the movie while maintaining an artistic, yet minimalistic design.
In addition to this, I had the opportunity to participate in the Vakalo College of Art & Design Exhibition, “On the occasion of a show – Eleven scenographic studies”, where the poster was featured alongside other works, adding another layer of exposure to the project.

Plot & Quotes
Ellen, a successful astronomer, cares for her mentally-ill sister, Cissy, who keeps a variety of primates in the home they inherited from their anthropologist father. When Ellen begins a romance, Cissy’s jealousy proves deadly.
Cissy: “You used to be so beautiful, You still are sometimes–when you are naked with me.“
Cissy: “I just love making you feel so good. Your skin feels so smooth. It’s like velvet. Just let all the muscles relax. It’s like I’m touching you and myself at the same time. Like we’re the same person. Is that what love is?”
